Person of interest

Person of interest - a person who is believed to be possibly involved in a crime but has not been charged or arrested; the police are suspicious of that person but don't have the evidence they need; using this term is a way for authorities to draw attention to the person without formally accusing them.

Example - "Authorities say they have a person of interest"
